How Word Budgets Work
Instead of limiting the number of books or features you can use, Authorio bills based on words generated. Each plan comes with a monthly word budget:
- Creator — 30,000 words
- Author — 70,000 words
- Publisher — 200,000 words
Think of your word budget as a creative capacity. The more words your plan includes, the more content you can produce each billing period.
What Counts Toward Your Budget
Your word budget tracks AI-generated content — the words that Authorio's pipeline produces for you during the drafting and editorial stages. This includes chapter drafts, AI-assisted rewrites, and content generated through the writing pipeline.
Your own edits, additions, and manual writing in the editor do not count against your budget. If you type directly into a chapter, rearrange paragraphs, or make manual corrections, those changes are free. The budget only measures what the AI produces on your behalf.
Monthly Reset
Your word budget resets at the start of each billing cycle. If your plan renews on the 15th of the month, your usage counter resets to zero on that date and you get your full word allocation again.
Unused words do not roll over to the next period. Each billing cycle starts fresh with the full budget for your plan.
Monitoring Your Usage
You can check your current word usage at any time from the Billing & Usage section in your dashboard sidebar. The usage panel shows:
- Words used out of your total monthly budget
- Remaining words available for the current period
- Renewal date when your budget resets
Keeping an eye on your usage helps you plan your production schedule. If you find yourself regularly approaching your limit, consider upgrading to the next tier for more capacity.
