Adding Calls to Action

CTA blocks for lead magnets and marketing within your book

Updated 2026-02-26

What CTA Blocks Are

Call-to-action blocks are a specialized content type designed for marketing and conversion purposes within your book. Unlike regular text or image blocks, CTA blocks are visually distinct elements that draw the reader's attention to a specific action you want them to take -- visiting a website, downloading a resource, signing up for a list, or purchasing a product.

CTA blocks are rendered with styling that separates them from the surrounding prose, making them stand out without disrupting the reading flow.

When to Use Them

CTA blocks work best in specific strategic positions throughout your book:

Lead Magnets

If you are using your book as a top-of-funnel asset, CTA blocks let you embed offers for complementary resources. For example, a book on email marketing might include a CTA linking to a downloadable template pack. This turns passive readers into leads.

Promotions

Use CTA blocks to promote your services, courses, coaching programs, or related products. Placing them at the end of a chapter -- after you have delivered value -- makes the promotional ask feel natural rather than intrusive.

External Resources

Point readers toward resources that expand on the chapter's content. This could be a video tutorial, a tool recommendation, or a community link. CTA blocks give these references more visual weight than a simple inline link.

Adding a CTA Block

To insert a CTA block, hover over an existing block and click the plus icon. Select the call-to-action type from the available block options. The new CTA block will appear in your content, ready for customization.

Like all blocks in Authorio, CTA blocks can be repositioned using drag-and-drop. Place them where they will have the most impact -- typically after a section that builds a compelling case for the action you are asking the reader to take.

Customizing CTA Content

Once a CTA block is in place, you can edit its content directly in the editor. Write a clear, compelling message that tells the reader what they will get and why it matters. Keep the text concise and action-oriented. A strong CTA answers two questions for the reader: "What is this?" and "Why should I care?"

Pair your CTA text with a specific link so readers of digital formats can act immediately.
